Please join Youville and Mary Crowe, LICSW, ACHP-SW from Hospice of the North Shore for a very special continuing education program. Mary will explore listening styles, communication barriers, and developing ways of listening more effectively in our daily lives.
During the program she will discuss:
- Communication challenges
- Listening styles/modes
- Barriers to effective listening and strategies for dealing with them
- “Presence” – what it is and how we can develop it within ourselves
- Skills to improve communication with patients, clients and co-workers
Join us and discover tools designed to improve our listening skills and help us become better communicators, both professionally and at home.
This program offers 1 Social Work CEU, 1 CCM credit and 1 Nursing contact hour

A talented jazz pianist, Ethan will entertain residents with his combination of popular songs from the 1920s through the 1950s. Stone’s performance will feature the music of George Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael, Hammerstein and Kern, Rodgers and Hart, Duke Ellington, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, Glenn Miller and more. Stone’s eclectic and enigmatic taste in music has earned him national and international recognition as an artist.
“Marguerite d’Youville: The Courage of One Expands to Many” presented by Sr. June Ketterer, SGM, Area Coordinator, Sisters of Charity of Montreal, “Grey Nuns”
Sr. June Ketterer will discuss how the inspiration of one 18th century woman influenced the lives of other strong women to found new congregations of women serving the poor into the 21st century.

Multi-generational program connecting Youville Place residents and families with young children from LexFUN! – Craft activity and socializing.
On Wednesday afternoons Youville House invites young families in the neighborhood to come play in our second floor common area. Space, toys and snacks are provided. Our residents join the group and interact with the babies and the parents or nannies. It’s a pleasant way to spend a few hours in the warm comfort of loving adults and inquisitive playmates. Drop in to join in the activities.

George Gershwin’s compositions spanned both popular and classical genres, and his most popular melodies are widely known. He wrote most of his vocal and theatrical works, including more than a dozen Broadway shows, in collaboration with his elder brother, lyricist Ira Gershwin. Pianist Jeffrey Moore will perform a variety of Gershwin melodies including Embraceable You, Fascinating Rhythm, A Foggy Day, How Long Has This Been Going On, and Love is Here to Stay.

Join Youville House and students from Cambridge Rindge & Latin School for an art reception to showcase portraits of Youville House residents created by the students. Students and residents worked together for an entire semester. Along with the artwork, students interviewed residents, and wrote biographies, which will be presented along with the artwork.
